What began in 1881 as a little glass factory in Iittala, Finland, has now become one of the most celebrated glassware names in the world; celebrated for Scandinavian design integral to a timeless look and aura.

Named for its Finnish homeland, iittala believe that objects should be distinctive, combinable and multi-functional, with lasting design that allows for individual use and expression. So when Finnish designer Kaj Franck set out to make the perfect glass, he began by contemplating the hand which has to hold it.

This insight into the feel of the glass – not just the look – is what gives Kartio tumblers their timeless elegance.

It took courage and spirit for Kaj to produce the simplest possible glass. Especially back in 1958. And that’s why the Kartio Tumbler remains to this day a true design classic.
